Session 1

Steve – Semiyon

Mayor Cornelius was appointed in charge of town. Semiyon, after a run in with Soom, Mayor Cornelious’ insufferable lackey, received his first mission to investigate a ruin which Rowinder’s elven scouts had located.

Semiyon and his companion Tarrik, a dwarven warrior and skilled mason encountered and overcame Goblins belonging to the Black tongue clan. Semiyon also encountered 2 injured Blood Tusk Orcs who had fled the battle of Talasaar.

Semiyon defeated and questioned the 2 Blood Tusk Orcs killing one and promising not to kill the second in exchange for information. From this Orc, called Garth, he learned of the three remaining Goblin Clans in the Degaheggi plains.

The largest clan is the Green Meat tribe lead by a winged Blood Orc called Orcus Rex, The Black tongues are the next largest clan and are lead by a Hobgoblin named Slit. The Black Tongue clan rely on stealth and assassination. The last clan are the Dripping Eye clan and their are highly secretive. Their shaman are to be feared and powerful their leader is not known.

Garth was set free as Semiyon honored his bargain.

A ruined building was located four days from Talasaar. Semiyon sent his Familiar in to scout and it was killed in a spray of thorns from an Archer Bush, Being cautious the Party encountered more Black Tongue Goblins. The Goblins knew where the archer bushes grew and the Party were caught in more than one burst of thorns as they fought through the ruin.

Once the goblins were dispatched Balthir firebolted the archer bushes from a safe distance. Investigation of the ruin revealed moon inscriptions on the four main supporting pillars. There was also a strange circular roof structure and a retracting roof mechanism. Under the retracting roof were stairs descending into passageways below.

Following the stairs down the party found themselves in a series of corridors of strange glittering black stone of fantastic craftsmanship. At the bottom of the stairs and at many intersections were statues holding large mirrors or large crystals which caught and reflected light making the glittering walls sparkle. Some statues were broken and some walls had small 2-3ft passages in them leading down.

Investigating the passageways further, secret doors were located on which large crystals were found mounted on short tracks which locked into place at points in the corridors. It was also discovered that the stairs were actually a huge crystal and water, pulled from the well, was used to clean the stairs so that they caught the light and reflected it into the passageways. The light bounced around the passageways in a magical way, but with no obvious effect.

A large bag of dead rats, bats and fruit was also found lying on the ground and this belonged to a large Ogre who laired in the three main rooms of the complex. A bloody fight ensued and Hurg stood toe to toe with the ogre trading blows until the Ogre fled and was felled by a well thrown javelin. Potions of healing, Coins, several valuable objects and 4 books were discovered in the Ogres rooms.

In the corner of the Ogres main lair was one of the broken mirror statues which was blocking a trapdoor in the floor.

Moving the statue from the top of the trapdoor the party descended into a flagstoned corridor and a series of rooms from which an awful smell emanated. Hurg, bravely going first activated a tripwire which rang an alarm and Black Tongue Goblins rushed into the corridor. One goblin covered in rat pelts was accompanied by three Giant Rats. Another Goblin was dressed in black robes with flaming red eyes and wild hair and shrieked goblin obscenities.

The fight spread down other corridors and more goblins heard and joined the fight. Balthir was cornered and managed to escape after the barbarian Hurg, In a rage, felled many foes. Semiyon’s burning hands spells cleared many opponents quickly. Successful but fatigued the party retreated and covered the trapdoor and rested.

Returning after their rest the party again descended into the rooms below the Ogres lair. upon opening many of the doors the party disturbed Giant rats in their lairs made of old chewed furniture and other destroyed items. Burning the rooms furniture to burn the rats the party retreated to the surface to escape the smoke.

After the smoke had subsided additional rooms were located. These showed statues to the Goblin God Maglubiyet.. The party blocked up a number of side passages to try to prevent Goblins attacking the party as the area was a warren. Large doors at the end of the complex were investigated. These were opened and a room which was covered in spiderwebs.

Balthir user his fire magic to systematically burn away the webs revealing coins littered on the floor. A large cocoon was disturbed and it released a hoard of hand sized spiders which bit and poisoned. That was not the main problem however as a large black spider with envenomed fangs attacked. As it reared up at Hurg to strike it revealed a white skull on its underbelly. Hurg, poisoned collapsed but the creature was felled by Balthir’s fire magic.

The Party left the ruin and made camp for the night away from the ruin. Their rest was disturbed by a strange two-toned howling during the night.

Session 5

Steve – Semiyon
Elisa – Balthir
Micheal – Hurg

Hurg recovered his strength after a rest and the party again made their way down to the web covered rooms below. A side room opened up into an study and Balthir noticed a safe hidden behind a wall partition. A poison needle trap guarded the safe and although this was discovered Hurg was impatient and ripped open the door to his detriment. Inside the vault were two magical gems, the remnants of a spellbook and an odd three dimensional sculpture. The sculpture was made of different coloured balls interconnected with rods of different colours. it was not magical but appeared strange and possibly of value. A the journal of Caesar Corellion was also found in the study.

The party left the flag-stoned rooms and entered more webbed caves. These caves were not natural having been cut from the earth and stone but they were not elegant at all being irregular and crude. The passageways were also covered in webs.

Further Giant spiders and fist sized spiders were encountered and defeated. As the party explored they encountered a large constructed barricade and on the other side, armed with long spears were a small number of Black Tongue Goblins. The goblins were watching the combat between the party and the spiders with interest but did not get involved.

During the fight with the Giant spiders something grabbed Semiyon from behind and wrapped a silken cord around his neck throttling him. and dragging him off into the darkness. Hurg managed to hear Semiyon’s muffled cries for help and dashed headlong into the black. This monstrous purple spider which stood on 2 legs stuckout again and seeing that it was outnumbered fled.

After this encounter the party decided leave and to report their findings back to Talasaar. On the trip back the party encountered a Death dog. A two headed beast with a slavering bite.

Opening of the New Chance
Session 6

Steve- Semiyon
Elisa – Balthir

The Journey back to Talasaar was uneventful and once past the Mayor’s insufferably lackey Soom, the party reported what they had learned of the ruin. Semiyon sought the guidance of the Willendale Brothers the most senior wizards in Talasaar and Balthir sort the council of Aldeen the cleric of Blessida on the relics that were discovered. These were of some value but Balthir donated them and a large amount of money to the church in exchange for the removal of a curse that had been with him for the longest time. The curse which turned his skin blue was, with the grace of Blessida, removed.

That evening was an address by the Mayor informing the warriors of Talasaar the status of the defenses and boasting of the creation of two new catapults. More importantly Mayor Cornelious introduced Guldin a large portly dwarf with massive beard who is the new innkeeper of Talasaar’s new and only Tavern, “the New Chance”. People flocked to the inn after the announcement.

While the revelry continued into the night large dark shapes flew out of the twisted Galach forest and descended on Talasaar. The watch rang the alarm and citizens spilled out of the New Chance to take up arms as a pride of Manticores attacked. Semiyon and Balthir fired their arcane power at them, dropping on beast even as they were severely wounded by a volley of spikes. The Manticores soon flew back to the safety of the Forest with a grisly prize of Man-flesh.

Semiyon, Hurg and Balthir were called back to the Mayor for further orders the next day as Rowinder reported that some of her scouts had not returned as planned. A rescue mission was planned and the party quickly left the relative safety of Talasaar to find the Rangers Deribor and Alaphir.

After a couple of days travel NE the party was attacked at night by a Death dog who wounded Semiyon badly and infected him with a disease. Stalwart to the last Semiyon decided to continue to venture into the wilderness to find the lost elves, thinking little of his own safety. Alas the disease was strong and a day later, when Semiyon’s condition worsened there was no choice but to turn back. Sadly Semiyon succumbed to the disease at the foot of the escarpment. Balthir and Hurg carried bis body back to Talasaar and informed the Mayor of their failure.

Deribor managed to fight his own way back to the camp a day later but Alaphir remained lost.

Encounter with the Dripping Eye Clan
Session 7

Steve – Myzanth
Elisa – Balthir

After a brief period of mourning for their fallen companion the Mayor summoned Balthir and Hurg so that the fight could be taken to the Goblin clans once again. After being told they were late and made to wait again by the Mayor’s insufferable lackey Soom, the Mayor invited them into his office and after enthusiastically shaking all of their hands and giving his own commiserations for the loss of Semiyon introduced a man and a half elf. Myzanth, a druid who had an intense affinity with the land and would be a valuable addition to the group. Bor is a charming half elf with sense of humour and a willing sword arm.

The Mayor said that a number of groups were heading south to deal with Dripping Eye goblin scouts who were beginning to investigate the new owners of Talasaar. The Mayor sent the group to the veteran military man Winder who was organizing the groups. Winder was just finishing with another group when the group arrived. There was a savage looking northman with a hooked nose and covered in furs. A huge great sword slung over his back. This was Slorc paladin of Gyron, God of Justice. The next warrior was impressive in a different way, covered in shining black and silver leather armour with twinned swords strapped across his back and a charming smile that was designed to make the ladies swoon. His hair was short, groomed and his eyes sparkled with self confidence. Blade smiled, bowed and introduced himself with a flourish. The third of the group was a halfling, dressed in white priestly robes of Blessida and holding a plain wooden staff was not trying to compete with two other such strong characters. He quietly introduced himself as Aldwin.

Winder explained that the Dripping eye scouts were to be dealt with and the clan shown that there is no weakness in Talasaar. the two groups were to travel together for safety and then split up to cover as much ground as possible.

With little more preparation the four day journey south started and the group traveled passed the edge of the twisted Galach forest following the edge of the grand escarpment. Blade and Bor persisted to fence with words throughout the trip and took an instant dislike to each other. Slorc, used to the ways of his traveling companion got to know Balthir, Myzanth and Hurg and promised to protect them from harm if he was able.

Four days later and once a rally point was selected near the top of the group separated and went to scout for Dripping Eye Goblin scouts.. It didn’t take long before the group encountered goblins astride wickering hyena mounts. These hyena riders were well equipped with strong armour and well made scimitars and bows. Each of their shields had a large embossed eye motif in black and red. With a whoop and Bree-yark the goblins swept in to ride down the party, shooting arrows and slashing with their scimitars. Myzanth cut down his foes with his scimitar and Balthir lashed out with fire. A minute later the goblins lay slain, but this was only the first group of Hyena riders to be fought that day. The next battle was even more savage and ended with Myzanth releasing a wave of thunder, hammering his foes and creating a huge boom.

As the group were tending their wounds after the fight a dwarf hailed the camp explaining that he had heard the thunder and was also here hunting the goblins, Rowinder had tasked him with his mission.and he introduced himself as Bonbin. Balthir and Myzanth were suspicious of the sudden arrival of this character that they could not recall seeing in Talasaar before. Myzanth was also heavily wounded and before talking to Bonbin further retreated to take care of his wounds. Balthir asked Bonbin where his traveling companions were and he explained that they had fallen to the goblin riders but he was OK on his own. Bonbin made conversation and did not bat an eyelid when Myzanth lied to Bonbin mentioning the plans for a second city to the North of Talasaar and that the quarrying of stone from the Iron Mountains was going well. Suddenly some sort of arcane power slipped of Myzanth’s mind, failing to get a hold. Myzanth looked up immediately alarmed when a sudden unnatural fog appeared on the party blinding them to what was going on. When the mist dispersed a minute later Bonbin was gone, no Dwarven tracks could be seen, only Hyena and Goblin.

The party made a brief search for Bonbin but without success and so decided to continue on their way. At the end of the day they came to a rocky area with a high rock ledge to the left. Scuttling down the cliff face were three horse sized spiders, black with sharp hairs and dripping fangs. Mounted on their backs were three Goblin wizard shaman. The shaman had tatooed their faces by tattooing the eye symbol of the Dripping eye clan around their mouths. With the eye makeup they wore this made them look like horrible three eyed monstrosities. They drew silver daggers from their belts and carved arcane symbols in the air. As they did so wounds opened up on the body of Balthir dropping him to the ground. Hurg leapt forward to engage the spiders while Myzanth tended Balthir’s wounds. Magic continued to dance from the silvery goblin blades. They whirled around them deflecting Balthir’s magic missiles when healed and summoned fire from beneath the feat of the PCs. Hurg’s reckless assault on the Spiders continued and he managed to fell on and kill its rider, but he was poisoned in the process. On the battle raged, with scorching rays of fire and thunderwaves being summoned and fired at the Goblins and their horrid spider mounts. The vicious battle ended with Myzanth chasing the last of the goblin shaman as both Balthir and Hurg lay dying from their wounds and the poison in their systems. Myzanth attacked again and again with his Scimitar unable to defeat the shaman’s defenses and the Shaman’s magic could not prevent Myzanth’s inexorable advance. Finally a telling blow was struck and the goblin fell – dead. Rushing back to his companions Myzanth saw that miraculously their chests were rising and falling and somehow despite grievous wounds they were hanging on to life. A spell calling upon the spirit of nature and the God Glade revived his companions to the point where they could sit up and breath a welcome sigh of relief.

Dragonflies and Goblin Caves
Session 8

Steve – Myzanth
Elisa – Balthir
Bor – Flavio

The party spent a long night huddled without a fire in a defensible crack in the rocks nursing their wounds and trying to leech the remaining spider venom out of their systems. By morning they were well enough to continue their hunt.

Exploration of the wooded hills which dropped down into the Degaheggi plains revealed the smell of woodsmoke but before investigating this the party decided to drop down to the valley floor where Bor and Myzanth had seen bright red and green flashes of colour dancing over a small river. A few hours later when they had descended safely through the hills they saw no sign of the flashes again until Balthir shot a firebolt into the sky. At this point, a lightning quick creature flashed down the waterway, its scales were an iridescent red and they covered its four legs and long tail, its large insectoid wings buzzed loudly as it looked for the source of the fire searching the river with large insectoid eyes which were built on the side of a reptilian dragon face and jaw. The whole creature was about the size of a cat and it dived playfully at the other firebolts which Balthir created.

The party decided that the Dragonflies were a distraction from their mission at hand and went back to investigate the source of the woodsmoke back up the hills. This turned out to be a small cave guarded by Dripping Eye Goblins. Myzanth envoking the power of nature transformed into the form of a savage black tiger and silently stalked the guard goblins poncing on them and ripping them to pieces silently. The party moved stealthily into the cave and discovered a large pen of a dozen hyenas resting in the cool of day.
